This old barn is located across from Bethany United Methodist Church near Weyers Cave, Virginia. On a rainy day last fall the sagging roof, peeling paint and weathered outbuildings were “framed” by the bare branches of trees growing along the road. Most farms have fences around them; fences that control and protect the livestock yet deter entities from coming inside. The rusted and twisted barbed wire fronts the painting, attached to the frame. It’s a separating device, allowing a mere look at a distant spectacle.
